The roaring cascade of water thundered in my ears, vibrating through my chest. The air smelled of wet pine, fresh earth, and the crispness of rain. My boots squelched against the muddy path as I climbed toward my chosen vantage point. Every step was a battle against the slick ground, but I pressed on, determination burning in my veins.
